Safeguarding

At St. Michael’s and St. Mary’s we want to make everyone feel welcome and safe. To help with this, we have a Vulnerable Adult Coordinator and Child Protection Officer. These roles include looking out for those who may need support and being available to speak to about any issues or concerns you may have.

Every volunteer who helps with children, youth work and vulnerable adults has to complete DBS checks. Regular vulnerable adult and child protection training for those on these teams must also be completed. Please contact us if you wish to help with the children’s work or be involved with other ministries and we will put you in touch with the right person.

If you have a safeguarding concern please do contact our Child Protection and Vulnerable Adult Coordinator or a Churchwarden. If you are unable to get through, then please do leave a message if the concern is not urgent. If you believe someone is at immediate risk or danger please call 999. If you need to talk with someone outside of church the Child Line number is 0800 1111.

We are committed to a child protection and vulnerable adults policy in line with the Canterbury Diocese. This is reviewed annually by the PCC.
