Our Home Group (Bible Study Group) meets regularly on Monday evenings at 7:45pm in St. Michael’s Church House.
Starting each session with tea/coffee, biscuits and a chat, our group explores the Bible and the Christian Faith in a relaxed informal way and new members are always welcome.
Having just finished two in-depth studies on the book of Revelation, they are currently reading “The Screwtape Letters” by C.S. Lewis along with the companion and study guide “C.S. Lewis Goes to Hell” by William O’Flaherty.
“The Screwtape Letters” reflects on spiritual conflict, the power of the devil and the invisible realities that are part of a religious experience. The book is in the form of a series of letters from Screwtape to his nephew Wormwood (a junior trying to gain the damnation of a newly become Christian). Initially, the young Christian looks like a willing victim but he changes his ways and is lost to Wormwood.
It highlights the struggles, temptations and weaknesses in human nature that, as Christians, we need to recognise and fight to overcome in our daily lives.
